Sweaters Galore
This is so great - Bad UFO Sweater Voodoo has been weighing me down, but I don't think I could resist the temptation to start a new sweater with my KnitPicks Palette Sampler without support! This KAL comes just in perfect time, right when I was looking for an exorcism. My list:
1. Brown Fair Isle raglan sweater for Hubbster. I'm almost done, really, really, really, after letting it become a UFO when I got distracted by Icarus.
2. Felted pillow cases and handbags. (scroll down for pictures) I have 7 Goodwill sweaters all felted and dried and ready to be turned into handbags and, from the scraps, two big pillowcase covers for pillows we can prop ourselves up against for reading in bed. Much needed.
2. Black ballet sweater. It's really annoying to knit this yarn on big needles, and I have a sneaking suspicion the drape will be all wrong when it's finished, but I have to finish it to find out! Especially since there's only a sleeve and a half to go... Methinks I may be able to save it by weighing down the hem and cuffs with a little ribbon sewn on, or something.
3. Pink microfiber Rosebud pullover. I love the pattern, but my short-row shaping is distressingly obvious with the microfiber yarn. Not sure it'll look good when it's finished, but, again, I have to finish it to find out for sure, as there's still some reason for hope, and only a sleeve and a half to go.
4. Lace panels for pillowcases, from Weekend Knitting. I don't have enough to finish them in the yarn I started with, but I can start over with another yarn, now in my possession. This is for the best, since I made at least one visible mistake in the lace from following the line-by-line instructions. Now I've converted it to a chart, and having accomplished Icarus, think I should be able to do this too without much more trouble.
5. Scarf for Hubbster out of Merino/Yak blend. It's lovely and easy, so much so that it got stuck in the closet while I've been doing more interesting things. But he wants to wear it on the first fall day, so it has to be done by then.
6. Socks. I'm determined to keep working on the leg parts (feet already done; knitting both on one long circular), because the colors lend themselves to knee-socks, but I'm dying to be done with them so I can start new, more interesting socks. I stupidly did this in 2x2 rib even though the yarn contains elastic and they would have looked just as cool in super-quick plain stockinette. Have been so annoyed at myself over this throughout the knitting that they go only very slowly and mostly sit in the closet.
7. Knitted panels for skirt, based on the one the model's wearing on page 24 of the Summer IK (with some inspiration from the cover of the Summer Vogue). But it's really boring knitting, and it's already too late to have the skirt finished in time to wear this summer, so as soon as I realized this all motivation evaporated. Still not sure I won't just rip this one out, except that it's a good use of viscose ribbon yarn from the stash that I have absolutely no other use for!
8. Mason-Dixon Log Cabin sampler afghan. I only have most of one square done (of 9 planned), and intend to work on it only gradually, but hey, if there's any chance I'll get to it this month, I'd be glad....
9. EZ Mystery Mitten. (Scroll down)I have one. I like it. Not sure what I did, but would try to recreate it to make the second mitten. Would like both hands to be warm, yes, indeedy.
